| Stock Gifts:
Do you want to make a gift to advance sailing opportunities on Lake Minnetonka for
school-aged or college sailors while reducing taxes at the same time? Consider a
gift of appreciated stock. By donating a gift of stock that you have held for more
than one year, you can eliminate capital gains tax when you donate them to the Wayzata
Sailing Foundation. It also reduces the cost of the gift because you can claim an
income tax deduction on the full fair market value (up to 30% of your adjusted gross
income).
It's easy:
1. Just instruct your broker that you want to transfer appreciated securities to the
Wayzata Sailing Foundation's brokerage account as a charitable donation.
2. Let him/her know the official name of our account is: Wayzata Sailing
Foundation account # and DTC #:
Once we receive notification of your gift, you will receive an acknowledgment letter with
the value of your gift for tax purposes.
